AL leader mudered in Bagerhat

Bagerhat Sadar upazila Awami League vice-president Nakib Akber Ali has been found dead.

Pedestrians found blood-stained Nakib Akber, 72, on a road near Munshiganj Bridge toll plaza on Tuesday night and took to Bagherhat District Hospital.

But the on-duty doctors said he succumbed to his injuries before arrival.

The pedestrians said they found Nakib Akber, a former union parishad chairman, lying on his motorbike. Later, they took him to the hospital by an easy-bike.

Adv Enamul Hossain, a relative of the deceased, said Nakib Akber might have been murder as he has many enemies. His body bore several injury marks on his eyes, forehead back side of head.

Bagerhat Model Police Station OC Subrata Kumar Sarder said, “Preparation for autopsy is being underway. An unnatural death case was filed. The reason behind the murder could be known after getting autopsy report.”
